On trans people (Revised)
(Addendum) I should clarify my addendum is rather a simplification of my view and a better clarification, it hasn’t changed from the previous; Adults suffering gender dysphoria should be assisted after checks and balances should be assisted in transitioning, but there should be rules in place for the element of competing sports (In which for example a trans woman who is a biological male may have an unfair advantage) should instead compete with other trans-women. I believe people who really are expiring gender dysphoria and want to transition after a diagnosis should be given the support we can give, be that HRT surgery, etc. We should allow them to have their preferred pronouns, (as long as it's simply the main 3, they them, he/him etc.) on passports, and any other form of ID. My argument is that people suffering from gender dysphoria are genuinely are suffering a discomfort and can suffer mental distraught without transitioning, suicide rates with trans people are much higher when we include factors of their parents not supporting them, for instance, so it's quite clear this isn't any sort of trend but a genuine desire to transition. I don't believe you can change sex, you can change gender, but not sex. Sex is biological and is an important factor in health, and other factors. In society, don't need to know someone's sex unless in certain circumstances. We don't need to inspect genitals, we don't need to run biological tests on people in our day-to-day basis, so while the underlying biological bodies are different in say a trans woman to a cis woman we really don't see any gain in pointing out this biological difference unless in key circumstances. These key circumstances being medical, for instance with a GP or in sports. Sports is an important factor to specify, as in physical sports like running a trans woman would hypothetically have an advantage to a cis woman due to their biology having much more testosterone in it, giving said person an advantage is sports like running, lifting, swimming etc. If we want to preserve women's spaces we should have some sort of check and balance there for those occasions, in prison systems we should for their safety separate them from other prisoners due for instance the much higher rates of sexual violence within prisons, it would be much safer just to simply have them separated into their own area or own prison doing so wouldn't cost the state any extra burden as trans people only take up a small population as is, and trans people in prisons is a much smaller population. For women's shelters I believe it's better suited for the discretion of the woman's shelter in question, I have no experience on how they run but have worked with them before when I worked at a food-bank, so I believe they're best suited to see if they can accommodate a trans woman and should be supported regardless on their policy on sheltering trans people. On trans kids Critiques on trans culture Bless the trans people who call them out, they have my full support. |
