About me

In the modern day, or at the time of writing this the debate about transgender people is still a hot cultural talking point, we often have engagements in civil discussion on what is gender vs sex, pronouns and phrase's like 'gender is a social construct' and words like gender dysphoria.

But what is my view?
I believe people who really are expiring gender dysphoria and want to transition after a diagnosis should be given the support we can give, be that HRT surgery, etc. We should allow them to have their preferred pronouns, (as long as it's simply the main 3, they them, he/he etc) on passports, and any other form of ID. My argument is why is because these people aren't simply trending, but are experiencing genuine horror and discomfort at not being in the right body. Suicide rates with trans people are much higher when we include factors of their parents not supporting them, for instance, so it's quite clear this isn't any sort of trend but a genuine desire to transition. I don't believe you can change sex, you can change gender, but not sex. Sex is biological and is an important factor in health, restoring balance and other factors. But we in society don't need to know someone's sex unless in certain circumstances. We don't need to inspect genitals, we don't need to run biological tests on people in our day-to-day basis, so while the underlying biological bodies are different in say a trans woman to a cis woman we really don't see any gain in pointing out this biological difference unless in key circumstances. These key circumstances being medical, for instance with a GP or in sports. Sports is an important factor to specify, as in physical sports like running a trans woman would hypothetically have an advantage to a cis woman due to their biology having much more test oestrone in it. Giving said person an advantage is sports like running, lifting, swimming etc. If we want to preserve women's spaces like that we should have some sort of check and balance there for those occasions, also in prison systems we should most likely for their safety separate them from other prisoners due for instance the much higher rates of sexual violence within prisons, it would be much safer just to simply have them separated into their own area or own prison doing so wouldn't cost the state any extra burden as trans people only take up a small population as is, and trans people in prisons is a much smaller population. For women's shelters I believe it's better suited for the discretion of the woman's shelter in question, I have no experience on how they run but have worked with them before when I worked at a foodbank, so I believe they're best suited to see if they can accommodate a trans woman. Either way, we should support trans people.

On trans kids
Now this one is a hot button issue, I believe we're in a very odd position here. I believe trans people should have full support in transitioning once they're past 18 with the likes of HRT and surgery, but prior then is very irresponsible with the aforementioned children topic. I think if a child is showing genuine gender dysphoria and under proper council with a GP, they should be allowed to socially transition. To give them HRT prior is unsafe, hormone blockers at a younger age has been shown to make people undeveloped and leads them to complications involving surgery later on in life.

Critiques on trans culture
one critique of trans culture is how it is trans people's worst enemy when it comes to acceptance. We have homophobia, misogyny, and unironic communism derangement within trans circles. It sometimes as a result feels there's a pleasure as a gay guy were no longer enough, that we have to transition or side lined and face homophobia from trans people and face no consequences because they have a higher oppression score, any critique to some of these people is just transphobic, they have the audacity to insult us constantly and then act surprised that terfs are so good at recruiting gay guys. Everything has to involve this weird trans thing, this trans culture of 'uwu cat girl please don't critique' is a cancer on the modern internet space and should be removed like an amputation on the discourse, not even for my sake for the homophobia but for trans people themselves, the little progress they gain is over-ridden by these people, for every good trans supportive victory theirs 5 lobotomites who want to be referred to as a 'it' unironically when before this was an insult to transpeople, said people belong in asylum when they find even the word 'biological male' offensive. It is beyond disgusting. Bless the trans people who call them out, they have my full support.
